Bored Cow or Soy Milk?
Don’t get us wrong — we love plant-based milk, including soy milk. Unfortunately, most milk alternatives lack the flavor, texture, and/or nutrition that makes traditional dairy milk so popular. And while all dairy alternatives are more environmentally friendly than cow’s milk, not all are created equal. Before you go to the grocery store and pick up your favorite soy milk, come learn about the benefits of animal-free dairy milk on your health, your tastebuds, and the planet!
health & nutrition
Like Bored Cow’s animal-free dairy milk, most soy milks are fortified with Calcium, Vitamin D, and Vitamin A, and Vitamin B12. Because soy is a complete protein, soy milk also contains more protein per cup than most dairy free milks. Similarly, Bored Cow contains 8g of real, animal-free milk protein per serving. Flavored soy milk does contain a lot of sugar, however — up to 18g per cup. Bored Cow, on the other hand, has 0g of total sugars per cup. Did we mention it’s also cholesterol free?
flavor & texture
While most soy milks are able to mimic the subtle, yet distinct flavor profile of milk, not all of them are able to replicate the rich, creamy texture of real dairy. Bored Cow was designed to look, feel, and taste exactly like the real thing. You won’t believe how rich and creamy our animal-free dairy milk is (seriously).
impact & sustainability
All plant milks are better for the planet than traditional dairy, but that doesn’t mean they’re all created equal. Soy milk is among the most environmentally friendly plant milks when you factor in carbon emissions, land use, and water use. Similarly, the animal-free whey protein we use in Bored Cow generates up to 97% fewer carbon emissions, requires up to 99% less water, and uses up to 60% less nonrenewable energy than whey protein from cow’s milk.

How Bored Cow Is Made
You may be wondering, "how can something be ‘animal-free’ and ‘dairy’ at the same time?" The secret is fermentation, one of nature’s most magical processes. Imagine a microscopic dairy farm where invisible ‘cows’ chow down on plant sugar, and turn it into real milk protein. It's a new way of making dairy that's better for people, kinder to animals, and easier on the planet.
