Instructions
-
Begin by activating yeast by mixing the warm water, yeast, and sugar together until well combined.
-
Set aside for 5-10 minutes or until foamy.
-
Mix bread flour, salt and warmed Bored Cow into yeast mixture and knead the formed dough for a few minutes, adding additional water if dough is too dry.
-
Cover dough and let rise for about one hour, until it doubles in size.
-
Separate dough into 5 pieces, and roll each piece into a ball.
-
Cover and let rise another 15-30 minutes.
-
Form balls into bagels by poking a hole in the center and working the dough around the hole.
-
Cover and let rise for another 15 minutes.
-
In the meantime, boil water.
-
Once water is boiling, add baking soda and maple syrup.
-
Add your bagels a few at a time, to the boiling water, allowing them to boil for about 4 minutes, flipping halfway through.
-
Transfer boiled bagels to a greased baking sheet.
-
Brush Bored Cow Original overtop bagels for browning, and add desired toppings (may we suggest everything bagel seasoning?)
-
Bake at 425° for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden on the outside but still chewy on the inside.
-
Let cool and serve warm, or store in an airtight container for up to a week!
