Instructions

  1. Begin by activating yeast by mixing the warm water, yeast, and sugar together until well combined.

  2. Set aside for 5-10 minutes or until foamy.

  3. Mix bread flour, salt and warmed Bored Cow into yeast mixture and knead the formed dough for a few minutes, adding additional water if dough is too dry.

  4. Cover dough and let rise for about one hour, until it doubles in size.

  5. Separate dough into 5 pieces, and roll each piece into a ball.

  6. Cover and let rise another 15-30 minutes.

  7. Form balls into bagels by poking a hole in the center and working the dough around the hole.

  8. Cover and let rise for another 15 minutes.

  9. In the meantime, boil water.

  10. Once water is boiling, add baking soda and maple syrup.

  11. Add your bagels a few at a time, to the boiling water, allowing them to boil for about 4 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  12. Transfer boiled bagels to a greased baking sheet.

  13. Brush Bored Cow Original overtop bagels for browning, and add desired toppings (may we suggest everything bagel seasoning?)

  14. Bake at 425° for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden on the outside but still chewy on the inside.

  15. Let cool and serve warm, or store in an airtight container for up to a week!
